External Reporting Manager
Our client is seeking an External Reporting Manager to join its Houston-based finance team. This role offers the opportunity to lead group external reporting, ensuring accuracy, regulatory compliance, and process efficiency. Key Responsibilities:
As the External Reporting Manager, you will lead the preparation of accurate group financial statements and manage complex consolidations for regulatory filings. You’ll serve as a key liaison between internal teams and external auditors while providing insight on technical accounting matters. The role also involves supporting process improvements, guiding system upgrades, and fostering a collaborative, high‑performing reporting function.
- Oversee the full group reporting timetable and coordinate teams to meet all monthly and quarterly reporting deadlines.
- Resolve complex technical accounting issues in partnership with regional finance teams and review key areas of group financial reporting.
- Manage 10‑Q and 10‑K processes, including timelines, information requests, and collaboration with regional and corporate accounting teams.
- Lead improvements to the financial reporting close process, including system enhancements and alignment with management reporting.
- Serve as primary audit liaison, support SOX documentation, collaborate with corporate functions, and contribute to ad hoc projects.
Key Requirements:
Your expertise in external reporting includes a strong command of US GAAP, SOX frameworks, and working across multinational teams. You excel at managing competing priorities, building trusted cross‑functional relationships, and communicating clearly during demanding close cycles. Your proficiency with systems like Oracle or Hyperion supports efficient consolidations, while your analytical mindset drives continuous improvement.
- 3+ years of post‑qualification experience in multinational companies or Big Four firms supporting listed clients.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and hands‑on SOX compliance experience in complex organizational environments.
- Advanced understanding of financial reporting for multinational, exchange‑listed companies with solid technical accounting skills.
- Proficiency with major ERP and reporting systems (Oracle, Hyperion, Wdesk) and strong Excel capability.
- Experience managing group consolidations, leading projects, communicating with senior stakeholders, and meeting tight deadlines with precision.
