The Payroll Generalist role involves managing HR, Payroll, and Benefits for multiple clients. Responsibilities include overseeing multi-state payrolls, interpreting policies, and implementing operational improvements. This position serves as a key support for managers, ensuring compliance with policies and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Services:
Primary resource for HR, Payroll, and Benefits inquiries, ensuring compliance.
Manages client relationships and coordinates meetings.
Interprets contracts, tracks billable work, and ensures timely and accurate reporting.
Handles client email correspondence, resolves issues, and escalates sensitive matters.
Manages pre-hire and onboarding processes, terminations, and interfaces with auditors.
HR & Benefits Services:
Manages pre-hire processes, onboarding, termination, and benefits administration.
Counsels employees on benefit plans and liaises with insurance carriers.
Handles leaves of absence, 401(k) administration, and health/welfare plans.
Prepares government reports and works on system conversions and implementations.
Payroll Services:
Manages multi-state payroll activities, including wage calculations and deductions.
Audits timekeeping records for compliance, trains employees on policies, and balances earnings.
Manages payroll changes, state agency interactions, and workers compensation audits.
Handles complex garnishments and works on system conversions.
Other Duties:
Prepares EEO and AAP compliance reports and engages in other assigned projects.
Requires local travel to client locations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in business or HR preferred.
2-4 years of HR, Payroll, and Benefits experience.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent verbal/written communication and presentation skills.
Knowledge of state and federal regulations (COBRA, ERISA, FMLA, etc.).
HR, Payroll, and Benefits certifications preferred (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, etc.).
Core Competencies:
Strong ethics, confidentiality, communication, and organizational skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, HRIS, and internet use.
ADP experience strongly preferred.
Detail-oriented, able to meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks.
