Associate General Counsel

Our client is in search of an Associate General Counsel to undertake a key role within the Legal & Compliance Department, with a particular emphasis on the Private Wealth business. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in private wealth legal and compliance matters, demonstrate exceptional organizational skills, and possess superior written and oral communication abilities.

Key Responsibilities:
As an Associate General Counsel, you will be integral to our client's Legal & Compliance Department, playing a vital role in shaping their Private Wealth business. You will offer strategic advice on legal and regulatory issues, communicate with various colleagues across the firm, assist with legal matters surrounding client account initiation and maintenance, and provide guidance on regulatory matters relevant to a wealth management and asset management business. Your role will also involve collaborating with business, operational, and risk teams throughout the development of new advisory initiatives. Additionally, you will be responsible for reviewing marketing materials and other client communications to ensure they adhere to regulatory requirements.

  • Offer strategic advice on legal and regulatory issues impacting the Private Wealth business
  • Communicate with wealth advisors, portfolio managers, and operations on all facets of the client relationship
  • Assist with legal matters related to client account initiation and maintenance
  • Provide guidance on regulatory matters suitable for a wealth management and asset management business
  • Collaborate with business, operational, and risk teams throughout all stages of new advisory initiatives development
  • Review and approve marketing materials and other client communications to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements
  • Develop, implement, update, and maintain monitoring processes for continuous compliance

Key Requirements:
The ideal Associate General Counsel will bring a minimum of eight years' experience from an in-house role at an asset management firm or from the asset management group at a law firm dealing with significant private wealth clients. Your strong writing and analytical skills will be key in this role. You are efficient, resourceful, and able to work independently while handling multiple changing priorities. Your excellent organizational skills make you detail-oriented, while your strong time-management skills enable you to prioritize multiple tasks efficiently.
