Quality Engineer - 2nd Shift

Our client is seeking a Quality Engineer to join their team in Havre De Grace, Maryland. This role provides the chance to work within an established process, ensuring products and parameters are under control and facilitating improvements. As a Quality Engineer, your will provide customers with technical support on testing issues and continuous enhancements of quality systems. The position operates on a second shift schedule (2:30-10:30 pm).

Key Responsibilities:

As a Quality Engineer, your role will be crucial in maintaining the high standards of our client's manufacturing processes. You will be responsible for monitoring product quality performance, documenting non-conformances, analyzing issues and developing corrective actions. Your expertise will also be utilized in coaching employees in quality assurance principles and methodologies. Furthermore, you will represent the company during customer communications or visits, ensuring preventive systems are in place for the customer's product. Your commitment to continuous improvement will drive your involvement in various engagement tools including kaizen, workout, 6S and applicable problem-solving methodology tools.

  • Monitor, reinforce and communicate all customer issues, quality escapes and other systemic quality issues.
  • Document and track non-conformances for incoming materials, internal departments, and customers.
  • Analyze quality issues and develop corrective actions.
  • Own quality documentations pertaining to the work cell such as specifications, inspection documents, testing requirements.
  • Monitor product quality performance through SPC and CPK analysis.
  • Represent company to customers during communications / visits.
  • Coach/Instruct employees in quality assurance principles and methodology.
  • Teach workout lite process through Area Improvement Team activities.
  • Accountable for work cell Internal Audits to ensure compliance to quality standards.
  • Support plant Quality team in preparation for and conduct of external audits.

Key Requirements:

As the ideal candidate for this Quality Engineer role, you bring a wealth of experience from your time spent within a manufacturing environment. Your understanding of manufacturing processes and value chains will be invaluable as you navigate through your responsibilities. Your background in continuous improvement, including kaizen leadership and change management, will be essential in driving the quality standards of our client's operations. Your proven problem-solving skills and root cause analysis experience will be key in addressing and resolving quality issues. Furthermore, your understanding of quality systems, specifically ISO9001/AS9100 requirements, will ensure you can effectively engage cross-functional teams to solve quality problems.

  • Bachelor of Science, Engineering degree preferred.
  • 2-5 years of experience in quality/process engineering function in manufacturing environment.
  • Continuous improvement background, including kaizen leadership and change management.
  • Demonstrated experience in problem solving and root cause analysis.
  • Understanding manufacturing processes and value chain.
  • Understanding of key operational metrics and communication across organization.
  • Understanding of quality systems, ISO9001/AS9100 requirements.
  • Ability to engage cross-functional teams to solve quality problems.
