Our client is seeking a committed and knowledgeable Production Engineer to become part of their team based in Kalamazoo, Michigan. This role presents the chance to be part of an expanding company that values diversity and inclusivity. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining process parameters of existing processes within statistical control, supporting process improvement initiatives, and providing technical troubleshooting for the department.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Production Engineer, your role will be central to maintaining the efficient operation of our client's manufacturing processes. You will be responsible for ensuring that procedures are clearly defined, documented, and issued. Your expertise will be vital in developing and maintaining BOMs and routings, as well as supporting process improvement initiatives. You will take on a leading role in ensuring that process parameters are under control, evaluating daily performance, identifying special cause variations, and taking necessary corrective actions. Your ability to transfer engineering instructions into executable plans will be essential in handling trials and non-standard products. Furthermore, you will provide indispensable technical support, troubleshooting issues on a day-to-day basis.

  • Ensure procedures and instructions are clearly defined, documented, and issued.
  • Develop and maintain Bill of Materials (BOM) and routings.
  • Support process improvement initiatives.
  • Play a leading role in ensuring process parameters of existing processes are in statistical control.
  • Evaluate daily performance and identify and eliminate special cause variations.
  • Issue nonconforming material (NCN) reports for all production orders.
  • Lead investigations and define corrective actions for closed NCNs.
  • Investigate and propose corrective actions for quality upsets.
  • Transfer engineering instructions for trials and non-standard products into an executable plan.
  • Provide day-to-day technical troubleshooting for the department.

Key Requirements:

The ideal candidate for the Production Engineer position brings a strong educational background with a Bachelor's level degree in Engineering; a Chemical Engineering degree is particularly desirable. You have at least two years' experience working in a manufacturing or chemical processing environment, demonstrating your ability to apply your knowledge practically. Your troubleshooting skills are top-notch, allowing you to effectively resolve any quality or efficiency issues that arise. Your problem-solving abilities are crucial to this role, enabling you to navigate through challenges with ease.

  • Bachelor's level degree in Engineering required.
  • Chemical Engineering degree is preferred.
  • Minimum two years' experience in manufacturing or chemical processing environment.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills are essential to resolve quality and efficiency issues.
