Engineering Manager

Our client is searching for a seasoned and highly skilled Engineering Manager to join their esteemed team. This dual-role position presents the unique opportunity to collaborate directly with technical peers, chief engineers, systems engineering and program managers within the company. The role encompasses project supervision for the design and development of intricate rocket motor systems and site management of a team comprising approximately 25 engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Engineering Manager, you will be at the forefront of technological advancement. You will be responsible for representing your team to visitors at the facility, ensuring that morale remains high and that everyone is aligned with company objectives. Your role will involve working closely with program management and senior leadership to ensure that all engineering staff are performing their tasks effectively. You will also be responsible for fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within your team. Your ability to identify training needs and develop individual careers will be crucial in this role. As part of your responsibilities, you will also ensure adherence to best practices, standards, and processes in engineering.

  • Represent the Reno Engineering team to visitors of the facility
  • Monitor the morale & motivation of the team and communicate company objectives
  • Collaborate with program management and senior leadership to ensure engineering staff is performing on directed tasks
  • Support performance appraisals throughout the annual review cycle
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the engineering team
  • Identify training needs for the team and/or individuals within the team to help develop their career
  • Ensure team adherence to engineering best practice, standards, and processes
  • Identify resource needs, allocate staffing accordingly, and participate in the recruitment and hiring process as needed

Key Requirements:

The ideal candidate for this Engineering Manager position brings a wealth of experience in mechanical or aerospace systems engineering. With a minimum of ten years' experience in a similar position, you have demonstrated your ability to manage high-performing technical teams. Your qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university. You are able to travel as needed, approximately 10% of the time. Crucially, you must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship)
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or aerospace engineering from an accredited university
  • Ten (10) to Fifteen (15) years of mechanical or aerospace systems engineering experience in similar position
  • Demonstrated experience managing a high performing aerospace technical team of 10 or more
  • Ability to travel approximately 10% of the time
