Fund Controller
Our client is a high-performing private equity platform currently managing $4B in AUM, with a clear trajectory toward $8B+ in the upcoming investment cycle. Their investment strategies span traditional buyouts and complex private credit, backed by deep institutional LP relationships and a robust fundraising pipeline. With a new CFO focused on operational excellence, this role will help shape the finance function of a fast-growing private markets firm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead fund accounting functions, including financial statement prep, valuations, waterfalls, ILPA templates, and capital activity
- Manage internal and external workflows, including audits, LP reporting, and investor financial commentary
- Oversee junior and mid-level accounting team members and manage interactions with fund administrators and auditors
- Own capital call and distribution processes, including modeling and documentation of carried interest calculations
- Operationally support deal activity: coordinate with legal, counsel, and deal teams on data collection, funds flow, and regulatory filings (e.g., HSR)
- Partner with IR on LP data analysis, portfolio metrics, and presentation materials
- Drive adoption of tech and reporting tools for centralized access to fund and portfolio company KPIs
- Review valuation models and company board materials to validate inputs and qualitative adjustments
- Monitor bank activity and perform compliance reviews (e.g., OFAC, callbacks) as part of transaction execution
Key Requirements:
- 6–12 years of progressive private equity fund accounting experience
- Current or recent experience as Fund Controller, Assistant Controller, or Senior Fund Accountant within a private equity firm
- Track record of managing fund audits, capital accounting, and carried interest modeling
- Strong working knowledge of LPAs, fund waterfalls, and portfolio valuation methodology
- Comfortable collaborating across functions and presenting financial data in high-stakes settings
- Highly organized, solutions-oriented, and able to handle competing deadlines
- Experience with systems such as SS&C, Investran, or cloud-based reporting tools is a plus
- Must come from a private equity or venture capital firm — candidates coming directly from fund administrators will not be considered
What sets the company apart:
- Be part of a high-growth platform with real influence on infrastructure and decision-making
- Partner closely with a newly appointed CFO to shape the finance function
- 4-day work week without compromising compensation or growth trajectory
